An Atheist's Take on African Missions

This article is really interesting. I pray that our churches will produce the same result.

The Moravians

Article "J" in our binder has an article about the lapse in missionary activity from the time of the Reformation to the activity of William Carey in 1792. All this to say the article mentions how the Moravians had a big influence on Carey, but we don't get that chunk of the article in our reading. I found it online and thought it was really interesting and encourage you guys to check it out. The article also talks about the Puritans. Both of these groups were forerunners in modern missions and effectively incorporated missions into the framework of their churches.

I can't get the hyperlink to work, so cut and paste this link: http://www.ciu.edu/resources/displaypdf.php?322

GTD= Getting Things Done

I read an article Saturday morning by a church strategist working for desiring God.  It really helped me with email, and hope it could be a resource for you as well.  Click here to check it out.  And let me know what you think!

Church Garage Sale Gold

I got this book for like a quarter a couple years ago. Turns out it's great and has been a really good resource for this class.

"The Spreading Flame" by F.F. Bruce.

It's the history of the Church from A.D. 1 to 800. It gives a historical narrative to Acts and provides a framework as to what's going on outside the church at the time. It's out of print, but they've got a few copies on Half.com for cheap. You guys should buy em out.

Sidenote: Does anyone else really want a 3x5 ft colored map of the Mediterranean? Seriously, these study bibles need fold out maps or something.

look at that...

Three people. Did they have blogs in the early church. scrollspot.com? Scoller.com?

I think that is what they would have called it.

A helpful resource?

As I was thinking about our study today, I thought about blogging as an option to share thoughts during the week on our reading and questions.  I can add as many authors as would like to join which will give us all the freedom to post and respond to specific parts of the text or general questions about Acts.  Feel free to email me and I can add you as an author.
